montigena Hansson

Chrysonotomyia montigena Hansson, antenna lateral, female.

Chrysonotomyia montigena Hansson, phallobase ventral, male.

Original description

Hansson, C. 2004. Eulophidae of Costa Rica, 2. Memoirs of the American Entomlogical Institute, 75:79.

Synonyms

None.

Diagnosis

Predominantly pale yellow, mesoscutum partly to predominantly golden-green; fore wing with dense setation. Very similar to cecropiae and alpigena, but differs in the shape of phallobase, from cecropiae in having occiput predominantly dark brown, and from alpigena in having scutellum completely dark brown. The female is difficult to separate from the female of alpigena. It is assumed here that the colour differences on the scutellum (see above) is reliable. However, a larger material will possibly prove this false (as with many colour differences between species). The males are separated through the phallobase, which is very distinct for each species.

Distribution

Costa Rica.
